On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Karlene Fontaine as Principal of École Julie-Riel, effective Aug. 1, 2025. The Board of Trustees confirmed her appointment at the Dec. 16, 2025, Regular Board Meeting.
Karlene began her career with the 乐播传媒 in 1999 as a teacher at École St. Germain. In 2000, she joined École Varennes where she taught for nearly a decade. In 2009, she moved to École Howden as an Early Literacy Teacher, followed by a over a decade in the roles of Early Literacy and Student Services Teacher at École Julie-Riel. In 2024, Karlene returned to École St. Germain when she was appointed Vice-Principal.
Karlene is a respected and effective leader who fosters professional growth, especially in early literacy. She sets clear, positive expectations for both students and staff, creating a supportive and high-functioning learning environment. Known for her strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families, Karlene leads with approachability and respect. She adapts confidently to new situations, remains highly organized and motivated, and is trusted by those she works with.
