/ 2025 is a national day of celebration dedicated to reading books by Canadian authors, illustrators, and publishers. The purpose of this annual event is to raise awareness of Canadian books and appreciate the “richness, diversity and breadth” of Canadian literature.

On Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, readers of all ages from across Canada are encouraged to spend 15 minutes reading, sharing, or listening to a Canadian book of their choice. Reading “Canadian” can take place anywhere there is access to great Canadian books – including home, school, or your local school or public library. With so many great books to choose from, reading “Canadian” is easier than ever. Board books, picture books, fiction, non-fiction, and graphic novels are available in print, audio, and digital formats in English, French, Indigenous languages, and many other languages around the world.
