From Feb. 2 to 6, 2026, the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ (ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½) joins schools across the country in recognizing Canadian School Counselling Week. This year’s theme, Hope in Every Hallway, highlights the essential role school counsellors play in supporting student well-being, belonging, and achievement.

School counsellors (including Student Services staff who provide counselling support) play an integral role in nurturing the personal, social, emotional, and academic development of our learners. Their work aligns closely with ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP). By fostering positive relationships, advocating for student needs, and coordinating supports, counsellors help ensure that every student feels valued and equipped to succeed.

In ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ school counsellors contribute to:

  • Encouraging student well-being and mental health through responsive counselling, early intervention, and partnership with families and community agencies.
  • Supporting inclusive and safe learning environments where diversity is respected and all students can thrive.
  • Collaborating with educators and school teams to remove barriers to learning and to help students achieve their academic and personal goals.

This work reflects our commitment to strategic action in the MYSP and to responsible use of division resources, prioritizing supports that improve student outcomes and well-being.

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ extends sincere appreciation to our school counsellors and all staff who support counselling roles across the division. Your professionalism, empathy, and dedication help bring hope into every hallway — every day.
