Applied Business Management
Program Description
The Applied Business Management (ABM) program is designed for students with a strong personal interest in business, economics and entrepreneurship. Students will receive theoretical and practical experiences through project-based learning and internship opportunities. The program provides a foundation and a head start for students considering further post-secondary education in business.
Internship
Two four (4) week internships are included in the program, giving students the opportunity to gain experience in two different business environments. Internships will take place in both part 1 and part 2 of the program.
Certification & Dual Credit Options
LRATC will award certificates to student who successfully complete the requirements for the eight-credits of the program.
Dual Credit - Through an agreement with The University of Winnipeg, ABM students, can earn up to six credit hours while studying at LRATC. The dual credit courses, Introduction to Business 1 (BUS1201 - 3) and Introduction to Business 2 (BUS1202 - 3) are delivered at LRATC as part of the program.
Prerequisites and Helpful Skills
- High school students have completed Grade 10 and post-secondary students have completed Grade 12.
- Applicants not meeting the entrance requirements may be accepted as mature students. Skills assessment may be required.
 
 - Ability to work in a team environment, follow directions, work with minimum supervision and meet deadlines
 - To be eligible to take the University of Winnipeg's courses:
- Introduction to Business 1
- Grade 11 students must have completed English 30S by the start of their program and have an average of no less than 70%.
 
 - Introduction to Business 2
- While currently Essentials Math is acceptable, preference is Pre-Calculus Math, no less than Applied Mathematics. For students to continue on into the Faculty of Business at the U of W, students who took Essentials 40S will be required to take a bridge math course. This is under review by the U of W.
