About Us
The building was built in 1750 and was known as the Black Bull an earlier farm come pub. The Black Bull and surrounding land was owned by Blackburn Grammer School, who sold it to The Preston Waterworks Company. The Company needed to build a reservoir for the increasing amount of inhabitants.
It was during this time that the Waterworks Company changed the name of the Black Bull to 'The Corporation Arms' known locally as The Corper. It was used for all the workers building the reservoir. In the early 1900's the Corporation Arms was used to hold livestock auctions and competitions (there are some awards up on the walls), sometime during this time the pub was awarded the Pride of Preston Coat of Arms, which can still be seen above the front door to this day.
In 1951 the Waterworks Company decided to place tenants after the second reservoir was completed. The Gornall family took this job and ran it successfully, in 1970 the Waterworks Company sold the building to them. In 1999 The Corporation Arms was sold to Jennings and then sold again in 2002 to another pub company.
In 2004 the MacNeil and Proctor bought it, turning it back to being a family run country inn.
